We were there! Colloquium on Cyanobacteria

On 20 May, 220 people attended a conference dedicated to managers of aquatic environments. The aim? To review the development and management of benthic cyanobacteria. One of the aims was to bring together river managers concerned by the proliferation of cyanobacteria in biofilms.

These cyanobacteria, which are often neurotoxic, can have serious consequences for mammals, including the rapid death of dogs that come to play and drink in the river. The conference was held in conjunction with the e-Tox scientific conference on cyanobacteria, which took place at the same venue on 21 and 22 May.

CLAS ISARA researchers led the afternoon of the conference, and contributed to a cross-review with the SR3A (Union of river and tributary) on the problem of cyanobacteria in the river Ain (a French department in the North-East of Lyon).

This conference provided an opportunity to take stock of the approaches taken by managers to study the phenomenon, and to study the management of the risk associated with these toxic biofilms.
